Daisy Shields is a cultural curator turned poet, songwriter, and editorial travel writer. At 25, she played a pivotal role in the early days of the Frieze Art Fair, launching its VIP Collector Programme and helping shape what would become one of the most influential platforms in the contemporary art world.
After three years, she stepped away to follow a deeper creative calling — pioneering an editorialised Record Club that brought together Turner Prize winners, flamenco virtuosos, and sonic storytellers for intimate nights of deep listening and conversation. The concept — part salon, part sound portrait — was later syndicated to The Vinyl Factory, now one of the most progressive voices in contemporary music and culture.
For over a decade, Daisy led the private programme at the Serpentine Galleries, producing landmark events inside the gallery’s celebrated Summer Pavilions. With the precision of a writer and the intuition of a producer, she directed eleven editions of the iconic Serpentine Summer Party, pioneering the event’s first ever live music and inviting Brit Award winner Dizzee Rascal to perform in a bold collision of high art and street culture. What was once unthinkable is now a central feature of the event’s identity. Across that period she collaborated with leading lights of architecture including Daniel Libeskind, Toyo Ito, Oscar Niemeyer, Rem Koolhaas, Olafur Eliasson, Frank Gehry, SANAA, Jean Nouvel, Peter Zumthor, Ai Weiwei, and Sou Fujimoto.
She has served on cultural boards including The Groucho Club’s Maverick Arts Award, which celebrated creative pioneers across the arts, and collaborated with institutions such as The Roundhouse, known for amplifying radical new voices.
Daisy’s work reflects a lifelong fascination with both physical and emotional landscapes. Most recently, she exhibited a series of her original large-scale poetry tapestries stitched in collaboration with Fine Cell Work in Category A prisons — verses typed on her family’s century-old typewriter and woven with the threads of extraordinary lives. Her lyricism, whether in typewritten poem or song form, explores dignity, imagination, and human connection in the most unexpected places.
Room With a View is the natural continuation of a life spent curating meaning and beauty — in galleries, lyrics, and letters. Through original writing, photography, and cinematic storytelling, Daisy opens a window onto the world’s most evocative places. It’s a passport to the art of travel, and a record of a life shaped by sound and story.
The ultimate edit of the world’s most beautiful places to wake up.
